How to Lift Up and Jump Through: Accessing Your Core, Bandhas and Subtle Forces with Michelle Dorer

Anyone frustrated with the transitions between postures? Would you like to learn to lift your booty off the ground? Do you feel heavy? Does it feel impossible to access those core muscles and bandhas?

Join Michelle for a workshop that will help! In this class Michelle will go over the proper use of bandhas and offer a deep look at physical technique to help you find your core and lift up off the ground. Students will learn to utilize more subtle forces in conjunction with their physical technique to find more lightness and ease through the basic transitions between postures. This workshop class will be engaging and empowering.

Meet Michelle Dorer:

Michelle Dorer is the director of the Ashtanga Yoga Center in the Outer Banks, North Carolina which opened in September 2005 and recently merged with a local Yoga Co-operative.  She is a long-term student of Tim Miller, who is the first American certified by Pattabhi Jois to teach Ashtanga Yoga and one of the first people to bring Ashtanga Yoga to the United States. In her training with Tim Miller, she has completed his First Series, Second Series, and Third Series Teacher Trainings. Michelle also had the opportunity to practice with Pattabhi Jois at the late stage of his life and has studied with several other prominent Ashtanga Yoga teachers within the Lineage. She has been practicing Ashtanga Yoga daily uninterrupted for sixteen years and has practiced into the Fourth Series with Tim. In addition to her deep connection with Ashtanga Yoga, she has attended several workshops on various areas of spirituality such as meditation, chanting, astrology, ayurveda, and studies of sacred texts. Beyond her yoga credentials, Michelle has a has a BA in psychology from the University of Virginia as well as a self-professed love for lore, dancing, and gathering around Fire. It is her intention as a teacher to help facilitate the continuation of her students’ physical practice while nourishing their spiritual and emotional growth symbiotically.  She is interested in the global movement of Awakening that is currently happening.
